IKEA Wonderful Everyday Life Set 2
In the early days of pure car racing, the sport was considered dangerous for the drivers as well as the spectators. The collisions where the cars came flying into the crowds were a common recurrence. It has taken many years on the battlefield between the racers, technicians, the car owners and the committees, for car racing to be where it is today. Mavericks like Ayrton Senna, have paved the path for racers today. I love this movie based on his life, it puts the car racing and all that comes with it into perspective.
It was a perfect sunny day to shoot the car racing scene at the Killarney track, Cape Town. In 1959 the track was upgraded to conform to the FIA standard for the Formula One cars of the time. The Cape Grand Prix was held at Killarney in 1960, and was won by Stirling Moss in a Porsche. In 2017, the first FIA World Championship race in South Africa since the 1990’s, was held at Killarney with the inaugural World RX of South Africa. This was the 12th and final round of fourth season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
It was fun to step back into the 70’s through the casting , styling and make up that our local crew worked hard at achieving. Take a look at the racing scenes in the IKEA “Wondeful Everyday Life”.
