On set with South African celebrities

When I was a kid, the village I lived in felt so big, the world even bigger then I could imagine and I dreamt of all the exciting places our sandy street would take me. After meeting some South African celebrities on photoshoots, I understand that we are all that kid, the dreamer.

As adults, somewhere along our busy lives we loose touch with our dreams, we put them aside so that we can finish everything on our endless daily lists. But we forget that having those dreams is what we need to get us through the difficult days. I believe that dreaming is food for thought. If we stop dreaming, we stop thinking about what we want and in the end, we stop making our way towards what we want, what makes us happy.

Every individual is a hero, a celebrity, a leader. Parents are heroes to children, moms and dads are celebrity chefs to friends or leaders in family. This is why I believe that we have the qualities in us to achieve our dreams but somehow loose the dream itself.

I met a man who has lived on the streets, at 19 he decided to look at what he has and how to enable himself, today he is a businessman. From his experience I learned that it is not what we don’t have but what we do have that is important.

Many of our South African celebrities come from humble beginnings. I was fortunate to spend a day with local comedians, politicians, sportsman, eco warriers and supermodels. On the set, when the camera is off and the room is quite, they are a mom, a brother, the son or the wife telling us stories.

Not many people have heard of the village where I come from, its small and insignificant to the world but its everything to me, its where I dreamt my dreams of seeing other countries, that little village is the root of my life.

Look at everything you have, no matter how insignificant it may be, start small, don’t wait for tomorrow. You are never to old, to poor, to insignificant to dream.
